Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

The data controller for OpticSketcher is Chene Tradonsky (OpticSketcher), reachable via the Contact page. Hosting, authentication, database, email, and AI integrations are provided by Base44 and its subprocessors (see Processors below).

2. What we process

• Local simulation data - ray-tracing runs in your browser. Guest designs can stay in browser storage (session/local) until you clear them or use cloud/share/AI features.
• Account data - if you sign in: name/email and authentication identifiers from the identity provider.
• Cloud designs - when you save to the cloud, we store your design snapshot (compressed scene data), name, size/revision metadata, and optional preview thumbnails under your account.
• Share links - temporary shares upload a design snapshot to our servers (default expiry 14 days). Permanent shares link to your cloud design so recipients see the latest version.
• AI Scene Assistant / Analyze - when you use these features, a text description of your request and scene structure is sent to an LLM provider for processing. Do not include secrets or personal data you do not want processed.
• Contact / feedback - messages you send (and the reply email you provide) are emailed to us.
• ZMX URL import - if you paste a vendor .zmx URL, our server fetches that file on your behalf (subject to safety checks).
• Technical / page-view logging - our host and analytics may record approximate page views, URLs, referrers, browser/device class, IP address (often truncated or hashed by the provider), and error diagnostics needed to operate the service.

3. Purposes and legal bases

• Provide the product (contract / legitimate interest) - run the editor, sync cloud designs, resolve share links, import files.
• Optional AI assistance (consent / legitimate interest in operating the feature you request) - generate or explain optical layouts.
• Support & communication (legitimate interest / consent when you contact us) - answer messages and improve the product from feedback.
• Security & abuse prevention (legitimate interest) - rate limits, fraud/spam controls, service integrity.
• Analytics & reliability (legitimate interest) - understand aggregate usage and fix failures.

4. Processors and transfers

We use Base44 for hosting, auth, database, email delivery, and LLM integration. Those services may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, transfers rely on the processor's appropriate safeguards (for example standard contractual clauses). We do not sell your personal data.

5. Retention

• Guest/local browser storage - until you clear it or the browser evicts it.
• Cloud designs - until you delete them or close your account (subject to backups).
• Temporary share snapshots - until expiry (typically 14 days) or cleanup.
• Permanent share records - until you delete the share/design.
• Contact emails - retained as needed for support, then deleted or minimized.
• Security/analytics logs - short operational windows as kept by our host.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the Contact form. You may also delete cloud designs from within the app. For account deletion, contact us and we will remove account-linked designs we control, subject to legal retention needs.

7. Children

OpticSketcher is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised policy.
